One of the eight specialization schools inthe Nigerian Naval engineering College (NNEC),Sapele, is the AutomobileEngineering School (AES). It was established to provide skilled automobile Mechanics to cater for the efficient maintenance of the NigerianNavy’s fleet of vehicles. Theschool is equipped withrelevant training aids andfacilities Lo ensure adequate training and impartation of practical knowledge to the trainees. Since inception, theschool has successfully traineda good number of automobilemechanics for the NN.

TRAINING ACTIVITIES

AMSconducts theregular artificer training for ratingsof AutomobileMechanic Department in the NN. Thetraining covers several courses such as Basic Automobile Course, Advanced Automobile Technology, Automobile Body/Chassis courses, Auto Electricity andBasic Auto Circuitry among others.

Additionally, the school is equipped with various practical models and trainers to enhance practical training. Practicaltraining is equally conductedat the college’s automobileworkshop from time to time to consolidate the knowledgegainedby the trances from classroom lectures.

The CI doubles as the workshop Officer, while a senior civilian staff is appointed as the workshop Supervisor. To further consolidate thepractical knowledge of thetrainees, the UTRs in their third year are sent for a one-yearIndustrial Training at AFEMEworkshop in Abuja.
