The MES is the largest of the eight professional schools in the college, with respect to occupied space, equipment holding, manpower and ratio of under-training personnel. The training objectives of the MES are drawn hum the NNEC training mandate as enshrined in the CNS Strategic Directives (SD-5) of 2021, which is to produce excellent and result-oriented marine engineers and technicians for the development of the navy and the nation’s maritime industry. To effectively contribute towards attaining the college’s training mandate, the MES is equipped with several laboratories, workshops andseveral other training models, facilitiesand equipment foe effective training.

The school has, over time strived to effectively meet its training objectiveswith several notable achievementsrecorded in the recent past, under the current administration of the Commandant, Cdre NE Darntong.

The MES conducts the regular four year artificer training, which is brokendown into a two-rear NationalDiploma (ND) and another two-yearHigher National Diploma (HND)in Marine Engineering Technology in accordance with the NBTEguidelines for accreditation. Theschool also conducts the yearly Officers Application Course (OAC) for Marine Engineering Officers to qualify themfor Watch Keeping Duties onboard.

Aside these regular programmes, theschool also conducts several othertraining packages for the NN. Theseindudc the Spccial Duty OfficersCourse (SDOC), MTU and OutboardEngine Maintenance Courses, as well asthe Petty Officer Marine Engineering (POME) Qualifying Course.
Others are the Intermediate Level MaintenanceCourse (ILMC) and EngineeringAcquaintance Training for Executive Branch Officers undergoing the Sub-Technical Course (STC).
The school recently graduated the batch of indigenously trained MTU 2000 and 4000 Series maintenance team on Quality levels1and 2(QL1 and QL2) and the 5th Batch of Outboard Engine Maintenance experts. Training of the 19th set of OAC and POME Qualifying Courses are currently ongoing.

To enhance training in the MES, the Command embarked on reactivation of hitherto unserviceable generators to ameliorate the poor power supply from thenational grid. The MES, as one of the eightprofessional schools of NNEC, feature prominently at the centre of the college’s drive towards attainment of its training objectives.
To effectively achieve its training mandates, the school is structured into administrative and training departments, with the HOD responsible to the CO for allacademic details, towards the award of ND and HND Marine Engineering inline with NBTE guidelines.
The MES has recorded several achievements in the recent past, notably under the administration of the present Commandant, Cdre NF Damtong. Some of these achievements include upgrade of the OAC classroom,expansion and remodelling of the MTU Training Centre, repair of outboardengines for the NN and provision oftraining aids among others.
